On 17 August of each year is celebrated the Madonna Bianca.
The worship of Portovenere is related to the miracle occurred in 1399 at home of Luciano, while praying before a Marian icon, he saw the painting lighting. Since then is begun the believers’ devotion of the Madonna, called in this way for its skin glow. Thanks at the re-enactment of this event the hamlet is illuminated with thousand candles, which create a magical and enchanted atmosphere from The Faraglione to San Pietro.
