The Gulf of Poets and the Cinque Terre

LERICI, FIASCHERINO, TELLARO

Lerici is situated in one of the most beautiful coves in the Eastern Riviera and is rich in artistic and literary citations. Destination of poets and artists of great fame such as Byron, Shelley, D.H.Lawrence and Virginia Woolf, it has earned the title “The Gulf of the poets”, and with this designation, Lerici is renowned througout the world. Lerici, enclosed between two Castels, is surrounded  also by ancient picturesque villages connected by panoramic paths, small hidden bays, that stretch along the cliffs, such as Fiascherino and Tellaro.

PORTOVENERE, PALMARIA, TINO AND TINETTO

Portovenere has ancient origins. It is famous all over the world for its historical monuments, the Doria Castle, the San Lorenzo church, the San Pietro Church, the magical colored little village and the narrow alleys «carugi»  that allow you to immerse yourself completely in its charm and culture.

With its stunning view on the Gulf has been destination of a lot of artists and poets and one of these has been George Byron, who gives his name at the famous cave. Portovenere, La Palmaria, il Tino, il Tinetto are integral part of Natural Regional Park of Portovenere and together at the Cinque Terre became Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997.

THE CINQUE TERRE

The spectacular landscapes and the folk tales from the area’s seafaring tradition have made The Cinque Terre a splendid tourist destination that every year attracts visitors from all over the world. Owing to its geographical characteristics, The Cinque Terre are considered one of most suggestive attractive hamlets of Italian Coast, for the naturally hilly and rugged terrain, softened by the construction of terraces for cultivation, especially the vineyard, planted on steep slopes. Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso are precious pearls of the Eastern Riviera, National Park, Marina Protected Area, Cetacean Sanctuary and represent an inestimable value of Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997.
